BRONX BOOK FAIR AKA THE PEOPLE’S BOOK FAIR

The Bronx Book Fair aka The People’s Book Fair, a name given to the Bronx Book Fair by community residents. It is an honor to be given this name. It is a name that is symbolic of our mission and work. I am the first woman to hold this position. It continues to be love and purpose that keeps me here.
From the very start I had a vision for the Bronx Book Fair. I knew it had the potential to become more and responsive to the full needs and interests of the community. We needed to use our platform to service our community. Under my leadership, the umbrella of Poets Network & Exchange, our board member & consultant Edward D. Currelley, and a supportive community it has grown into a global community. We’re proud of all we have accomplished. Ours is the result of work, long hours, determination, creativity and focus. Our gratitude to our supporters.

POETS NETWORK & EXCHANGE
Poets Network & Exchange, Inc. is an award winning 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 2012 by Lorraine Currelley, Executive & Artistic Director. Poets Network & Exchange was founded as a welcoming, safe and supportive space. A space where seniors were welcomed and appreciated. A space to avoid isolation and for opportunity to develop friendships. A poetry and creative writing workshop for experienced and emerging senior writers and persons with a love and interest in writing, reading and literature. We succeeded in this mission.

Poets Network & Exchanges activities include producing literary events, poets, spoken word and performance artists, poets, a lecture series aka a community stage and salon. Poets Network & Exchange has expanded to include socially conscious initiatives. Specifically health initiatives, social and environmental justice and equity. On Facebook we host the private group Poets Network & Exchange and the public page Poets Network & Exchange Community Drum; a space where community is invited to post literary & community news, literary resources and events. We are one of the literary organizations featured in the award winning film 1.5 Million by filmmaker, producer and director Gregory Hernandez.
