Nothing to Lose but My Chains
Black female born fed on activism my breast milk. Life a fight for survival. Survival in a country rooted in supremacy and a constitution never created to include me. I do not own the birthright of White privilege, entitlement and safety. My very existence makes me a breathing target for automatic abuse, disrespect and death. A fight fought daily on several fronts; ageism, sexism, racism, colorism and genderism. Born with my fight embedded in my DNA. Choosing to fight, like my courageous ancestors before me. I have nothing, have never had nothing to lose but my chains.
Liberation in a supremacist culture unceasing and problematic. Having to address the oppressor and existing divides amongst the oppressed. Having to deprogram supremacies centuries of indoctrination of the masses. Their defense of ideologies structured to protect oppressive systems and to keep the oppressed fighting amongst themselves. Fighting for scraps from their masters table, instead of freedom. Pitting the oppressed against each other, in defense of supremacy. Fear, self hatred, self loathing and cowardice. Heads ever bowed brownnosing hungrily seeking their master’s approval. Their master’s betrayal their self hatred reward. Supremacy loves itself and exists in hatred, evil, lies, corruption, land theft, fear, greed, destruction and genocide. There is no honor amongst thieves, criminals and cowards.
The oppressor would not be so strong if he did not have accomplices among the oppressed. — Simone de Beauvoir
Contrary to fake and controlled news, lovers of freedom and liberty are organizing demonstrations, boycotting, and responding to calls to action daily. Individually and collectively in communities across the country and world. Rebelling against institutionalized systems of oppression and threats to silence the voices of the masses. Masses placing their bodies in the line of fire of race soldiers bullets, batons, hatred’s revised laws, lunacy and revisionist histories.
Those whom believed they would not be negatively affected celebrated and chose supremacy. Now disgruntled storming the gates of Hell begging the help of those whose suffering they championed. Real news bears witness to discord growing in the ranks and their anger at betrayal. Reality checks are being cashed daily. This is what happens when hatred, evil, corruption and lies prevail. Do not lay your disappointment, frustrations, tears, anger and regret at my door and the doors of others who tried warning you. Why are you expecting us to save you? We cannot save you. Neither do we welcome your unholy claims of allyship. This is the undesired marriage you offer before and after spilling our blood.
“We See You.” — African Proverb
Those without privilege must remain on alert. Our bodies and voices do not own the luxury of silence. Freedom, justice, liberation and fighting for our survival and that of our descendants, our battle cries.
